Net Neutrality

Unfortunately, I think most of the people making the decisions that affect our lives are about as informed as this guy.

Just a little thing about the current net neutrality “debate” that’s going on.

ISPs being able to charge whatever they want for whatever services, sounds like a bad fucking idea for me. Remember when internet service meant like, the whole internet? Not just the sections of it that bribe pay fees to your particular ISP, or just the protocols/ports that your ISP thinks you should be using (how many people have decent Usenet access with a basic ISP account? FTP? Free Web space? How about throttling or completely locking out ports you use for activities the ISP thinks you shouldn’t? Bye bye Bittorrent?), I figure it will eventually get to the point where we’ll only have access to 3 or 4 ports that the ISPs deem appropriate and everything else will cost extra/not be available anymore.

At least it will for you, not having any of these problems on my 1mbps fiber optic connection for $50 a month here in the land of the rising sushi…yet anyway (knock on wood).

P.S. Jon Stewart is awesome.
