Homicide detectives tell Action News that a 19-year-old man was riding his bicycle around 2:30 in the morning when he pulled alongside a car. Police say the teen reached into the car and took the jewelry being worn by the driver.

Mason then chased 19-year-old Burton about four blocks, before allegedly hitting him at 11th and Pine Streets. An eyewitness told Action News that the 70-year-old man then got out of his car, screaming about how his wife had given him the necklace and he wanted it back. The man then allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Burton at least four times.
