I really like the content on Tom’s hardware, but I really hate those irritating inline pop-up advertisements…

I hope the “video card revolution” isn’t too soon, I just got a frigging $300 card in this thing a couple of months ago…=P

Buddy, there’s a video card revolution every 12-18 months… don’t sweat it ;) but timing your buys around DirectX releases is wise these days…

To be honest with you, I am not terribly impressed with most of the changes made to video technology. No one uses it to it’s full potential. The source engine is probably the nicest thing currently out there and you don’t need a top of the line card to run it.

I’m in agreement there… they don’t want to use it’s full potential because then you won’t upgrade for 2 years… they got to bleed you a bit at a time.

Where you refering to a specific source engine or just the source enginges in general?

Yeah, companies are good at that crap. As a translator I get to see all kinds of crap here, like built in failures to guarantee that the customer will eventually upgrade devices, etc., that makes me think maybe communism isn’t such a bad idea =)

I meant the Half-life 2 “Source” engine, not source as in origin but “Source” as in the proper name of the engine, like the Unreal engine, etc.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic is built on it too. I played the demo, but I wasn’t as impressed as I thought I would be from the preview vids.

I’m just waiting on Half-Life episode 2 and TeamFortress now =)
